Today in west civ class we had to do the essay portion of our exam. One of the classes did there essays yesterday. Mr schick let them only do two essays mean while our class had to do three. I wasn't able to get past four sentences of my last essay. Teachers are not aloud to favorite classes especially on exams. There is no excuse or reason for the other class to only do two essays. The whole class is super frustrated right now.

Today in west civ class We took our rome test. I think i did not so well. It was difficult and i will be pretty happy for a B. I hope i will do good on the exam next week.

Today in west civ class we Started to review for our rome test next week. We have a bunch of things to study for each class now because all of the teachers are packing in there test for next week. But we also have exams so its super stressful. We are getting our exam essays next week which is good so we won't have to stress over that the following week.

Today in west civ class we did the last two presentations. Suky and christina did a cool video and also made a model of the colosseum. They did a drawling which was amazing. The next presentation was katie and sophia they had a trifold and a model of the colosseum aswell. after this mr schick went over what will be on the exam

In west civ class today we did more presentations. The first group to go was chris sydney and nikki. The cake they brought in was really good and they also made a model which was creative i liked theres a lot. the next was reese james and nathan and there presentation was a video which i didn't understand too much. The last to present was jack and colin and they built a catapult.

Today in west civ we started to present our rome projects. The first to present was megan and gabby. they made pottery to go along with there power point. They had a lot of good facts and the pottery they made was good. Next to present was immanuel, gabi, and i which we made a program which i believe it was pretty unique and had a lot of good facts. The last to present for the day was luke, tucker, callie and sammi. They made a model with a trifold. They also knew there facts and did a lot of research.

Today in west civ class we watched the rest of the video about rome. The video was ridiculous because they killed an innocent man who was a son of a very honored leader. This showed how people of rome believed anything they heard.

In west civ class today we went over the power point. This was about how the plebeians who were supposed to be middle class have turned out to be the poor. The people of rome all wanted bread and circuses. This would partly keep them alive and also to keep them quiet. Julius caesar was a highly successful leader. After the power point we watched the video.

Today in west civ class we came into the class and he gave us a pop quiz. i got a very bad grade on it but thank god its only worth 10 points. I hope that my grade does not drop because of this test score. for the rest of the class we worked on our project.

Today in west civ class we watched a video on rome. It was about how the rulers changed! We still have not finished the video but since we do not have class tomorrow we will continue watching it on wenesday in class.

In west civ class today mr schick was out of school. We had a sub and he was the art teacher. so he took us to his room. We worked on our rome project and we are almost finished with all the details. I think our project will turn out good and creative.

It was kinda weird that he did that and i wasn't aware of it So mr schick took it out of the news. I didn't care if it was in there but oh well its no big deal. then after all of that we watched a video on our computers about rome.

Today in class we took more notes on Rome from the power point in class. We talked a lot about the wars Rome fought in. They fought in three Punic wars, the first was from (264 -241 BCE) and Rome won. The second war was from (218 -201 BCE) this was when Hannibal tried to attack Rome from the North, but did not succeed in getting there. The third, and final Punic War was from (149 - 146 BCE) The Romans got tired of the Carthaginians and wanted them to be destroyed. The finally took everything from them, including their 50,000 slaves back to Rome. If Carthage would have entered into Rome. Things would have been a lot different now, Hannibal would have changed history

Today in west civ class mr schick let us go to an assembly in the lobby of the school. This consisted of 1980 role play. The juniors dressed up as famous people from the 1980s. Some people were being amilia air heart and writers. It was fun and a cool experience.

Today in west civ class we went over a power point. The power point was about rome and how the different cultures came together into rome. Latin was the first culture following many around the Mediterranean. Mr.Schick started telling the story if the last king in rome. This was about the "power couple". After this couple ruled the citizens of rome said this will never happen ever again.

Today in west civ we got with our groups to work on our ancient rome project. We are having trouble figuring out what we have to put on our programs for the circus maximus. We are also making a poster of the extra facts that we need to put on our program.

Today in class we tried researching about four places in Rome. These are all the notes Gab and I found on the Circus Maximus. Furthermore, we also had to cite our sources. This task was very hard and there were no legit websites that could actually be cited. We found a website that was very knowledgeable and had a lot of information, but there were sources they used that we had to then track down. For example the website we were on had a lot of books the author cited that we then would have to find the book and parts of the books so the book could be cited. In conclusion, the research is easy, but citing is very hard.

Today in west civ class gabi and i started our rome project. Immanuel is in kentucky so we had to work on it without it him. We decided we will do a program for the games in rome. Everyone will get one and as we speak about each fight we will describe who and what goes on with which particular battle.

In the middle of true class the office called and said we had a special guest. so mr schick went to go get them. he came back dressed up as a rapper. He wrote a rap about rome going to the music for low. It was funny and actually had a lot of fact in rome in it.

In todays west civ class we started the unit of ancient rome! We took notes in our note book while mr schick was going over a power point. he started going over a legend in ancient rome it was about two brothers that eventually become leaders an done kills the other.

In west civ class we Talked about our paper. We went over a lot of grammer. This is be cause We did bad on our essays and didn't do grammar check. We were supposed to watch a video but couldnt because the grammer talk was too long.

Today is west civ i got into the class room and was really not up fro sitting in my seat so i asked mr schick if i could move and so he said no but someone else switched with me so then he said fine that will work! then we started going over test answers. I was really not up for that because i did very bad on that test and so did everyone else in the class so it was awkward. I hope that we watch  movie soon in mr schticks tv production room because when he gives those test out i do pretty good cause i like watching movies

Today we had our test on Greece. Im pretty sure i did not do good!Im very disappointed in my self i should have studied! if i get a C will be happy with that. I get too distracted while i was watching the video so i don't think that helped.

In mondays west civ class we had a sub that moved us to her room we got to work on our project and watch the video. We finished our proect so i got to watch little of the video. I've gotten very distracted while i was watching so i didn't get a lot of it done

Today in west civ my group and i finished our essay! The sub would not let us talk so it was hard to communicate  I ended up with 420 words according to word counter.com. It took time to finish and i had to go to multiple websites to get different ideas. but all together i feel like i explained the democracy of ancient greece really well.

Today in class we started our project. mr schick was not in class be causes he's visiting his daughter at the Netherlands. I have to to a paragraph on democracy. We split it up by three and working separate. Once were done our paragraphs then we will put them onto a shared google document.

Today in west civ mr schick told us that we have to write a 1000 word essay. we do this with our group that we did our google slide with. this is about the slides. we should also watch the video that is on his website. also the day that we hand in our essay is the day of our test. this will be difficult but we can do it.

in west civ today we went over what we already have learned. once we reviewed that we began to discuss new information. We took notes in our note book we focused on tyrants and now there is a different meaning to it. the accent greece meaning was: someone who simply seized power. now the meaning is someone who rules outside the framework of the polis. an example of this is Hippias.

In todays class i found out that we are all working on a project. i got put in a group with nathan and reece. they had most of it done but i have to do the rest. its about the government in ancient athens. The group was mad that they had to do most of the work and all i had to do was 2 slides.

we won our first game on thursday night and last night we lost so we move on to the semi finals. we are all very glad that calvert hall has not won a game and is not playing today due to the fact that they haven't won and they came in last place. we play today at 6 30.

Im not in school today because i am at the aclt for our varsity basketball team. We have study time before the game today so on my blog tomorrow i will let you know how we do tonight. We play Paul the 6th from Virginia. Hopefully the buys get the W tonight.

Today in class mr. schticks computer was really slow so it took a while to start the class. while he was doing that E finished his pyramid and everyone else socialized. we started to review what we already learned. This times is when iron was starting to get better then bronze. mycenae controlled trade. homer the storyteller was passed my mouth. lived at the end of greek dark ages. the llaid is the trojan war. odyssey is a story about odysseus attempt to return home. Most stories involve gods. There is a theory that homer is actually not real.

Today in west civ we started a new unit called ancient greece. Luke and gabi had to take there test first so that took a while. once we were done we started Watching the power point and then we also had to take notes while doing that. I have to do good on the next test to put my grade up to a B.

In todays class we did a game in which the first 2 people get A's the second 2 people get B's and the rest get C's. Megan and i got first so we got a's this really will help my grade. We basically guessed and got lucky with the game. we were done long before most people so we could do our blogs in class.

              Ancient Egyptians came up with mummification to preserve the body for the after life. They take out certain organs, then they cover the body with salt and let it settle for 40 days, oils were put on te body, then they would glue down the linen to the body, then they place the mummy on a wooden board and wrap some more, then they put a pouch on the chest for a religious meaning, finally they put a cover on the mummy. After all of the preaping hey would paint symbols on the outside of the cloth.

About Egypt             Ancient Egypt civilization lasted from 3000 BCE - 332 BE. This civilization lasted so long because of their many resources, like the Nile River. Every summer the river flooded which left lots of rich soil to plant. The Nile was well tamed with the simple use of irrigation and the use of canals. Egyptians were buried with precious items because they believed in after life. There are three different time periods in Ancient Egypt, The old Kingdom, The middle Kingdom, and The new Kingdom.

Pyramid Quest
           A young man went on a quest to look for treasures in the pyramids. He didn't bring warriors but he brought architects. He ended up not finding anything inside, this left him questioning. But today we have discovered way more about the chambers in the Pyramids, we know that there is more than just a tum that was put in the massive Pyramid. There is an underground tunnel in the Pyramid too.

The Egyptians were very intelligent people. We use what they invented a few thousand years later now. They created pyramids for the pharaohs. Under these ancient statues are pharaohs of egypt. They filled these places with gems and gold but also there bodies. They believed in the after life and if you put all there belongings in there they will go with them.  mummies were what we mostly call these preserved bodies in egypt. Hieroglyphic is there writing that they created. They would be pictures.

In todays west civ class we took the test on the movie. Im not sure that i did took good. It was hard for me to figure it out. I will be very happy if i did well. After the test we checked the last test and I'm very happy about that test. I hope for the best for the next test that we take. 

review day

In class today Mr. Schick graded our test from last week on the beginning of agriculture. As he was doing that we were reviewing our test on the movie Guns, Germs, and Steel. After he showed us all of our test scores. I was actually happy about my score; i got a 84% and im very happy i got that because last semester i was lucky to get an 80% so hopefully this is a good sign that ill be doing good this semester.

In todays class we finished the movie. basically the answer to the guys question was that each country either is geographically unlucky or geographically lucky. An island is one of the most unlucky geographic place to build up a colony. 

February 4th blog

In west civ class we continued on watching the movie we found out that only 12 animals are able to be domestic animals out of the couple million of animals in the world. There are none from the island most are from the middle east.. near the fertile crescent. They aren't even from north america. This shocked me because our country is upgraded and basically new compared to the rest of the world so why are we doing so well without these animals

In west civ class we watched the movie. We only had a half hour class because of the two hour delay so we didn't have much time to watch it.  But we found out that you have to geographically lucky to get a lot of crops to support them self. And the island is an unlucky place.

In west civ class today we watched guns, germs, and steel. It was about a scientist who was asked the question "why do white people have so much cargo but us don't have any" Now the guy is on a mission trying to find the answer to this! these people still live the hunter gather ways.

Today we took our first west civ test. The fill in the blanks took a while but i think it was helpful to use our blogs. I think i did really good on this test so hopefully i started out this class with an A. I think it would be more helpful to do more then right down notes so were not so bored and we can find more interest in this subject.

In west civ class we reviewed for the mesopotamia test thats tomorrow. Reviewing for the test helps because he gives test answer that we can study for. Im feeling confortable about this test because i have good notes that i can study and look over tonight. After reviewing for the test in class we looked at hammurabi code.
